This Easter treat your family to the perfect day out, a trip to see the brand new
Winnie the Pooh movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Starring all the animals from 100 acre wood including Pooh,
Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Owl, Rabbit and, of course, Christopher Robin, "Winnie the Pooh" will transport you back to your childhood.
Going right back to basics, "Winnie the Pooh" is a homage to the original
Winnie the Pooh movie and cartoons and is a deliberate contrast to the current trend for 3D high tech movies. Created using only hand drawn animation, Disney Animation Studios has managed to recreate the homely feel of the first Pooh movie, moving away from the newest 3D-esque Winnie the Pooh cartoons on Disney Channel, "My Friends Tigger and Pooh".
The new Pooh movie is also narrated, opposed to the story being told through the characters, with legendary actor, John Cleese voicing the narrator. As with the original Pooh movie, the story is also told through the story book itself, with the pages turning and the animals interacting with the words on the pages, sometimes with interesting results!
Winnie the Pooh was originally seen on the big screen in 1977 in "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh". Created soon after Disney bought the rights to the Winnie the Pooh franchise, the film was a combination of three previously released short cartoons. This first appearance of the Winnie the Pooh in cinemas was the last film Walt Disney himself had a personal hand in creating. Disney originally wanted to create a brand new feature film, however due to economic reasons, this was not possible.
"The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" was loved by everyone who saw it, and the Walt Disney Company soon released a brand new tv series "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" which had 83 episodes and was still being shown into 2007 on children's television. Due to the success of Pooh, three spin off movies were also made "The Tigger Movie", "Piglet's Big Move" and "Pooh's Heffalump Movie". Winnie the Pooh became an international star with his cartoons translated into many languages, as well as a vast array of merchandise being produced and sold around the world.
It is speculated today that Winnie the Pooh is one of the largest franchise for the Walt Disney Company, second only to Mickey Mouse. With Winnie the Pooh DVDs, t-shirts, games, books, soft toys, crockery and much much more, Pooh is represented everywhere, even in supermarket aisles!
Whether young or old, "Winnie the Pooh" will touch everyone's hearts, as we all remember what it was like have a Pooh bedtime story. Children will love the simple stories and funny moments and will remember their first Winnie the Pooh cinema experience for years to come.
"Winnie the Pooh" is released in UK cinemas on 15th April 2011.
