Welcome To The National Whitewater Centre - Canolfan Tryweryn based near Bala, North Wales, we developed the first commercial white water rafting operation in the UK in 1986.. and since then we have grown to become the largest and most well-respected whitewater rafting organisation in the UK.
The Tryweryn is a dam released river so water is often flowing when other British rivers are dry, thus producing a unique year round white water venue.

Kayaking & Canoeing
The National Whitewater Centre has been internationally recognised as a centre of excellence for paddlesports since the mid 1970's.
In 2008 we withdrew charges for paddling on the River Tryweryn. Kayakers and canoeists must sign in as usual at reception but there is no charge to access the river or for the use of facilities.
Making A Meal Of It
Our on-site café is run by Claire and Diane, (famous locally for their baking) and is open whenever there is a water release. From home made soups to crisp fresh salads, veggie options to tempting just-baked cakes, there’s lots to sample!

By Car
From Llangollen follow the A5 to Corwen, 1 ½ miles through Corwen take the left turning to Bala (A494). At Bala turn right towards Trawsfynydd (A4212). Drive 3 miles to the village of Frongoch, just 1 mile past Frongoch we are signposted on the left.
