      An exciting programme of events at the National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port offers entertainment for all the family during each school break. Kicking off in February during half term with card and badge making, there’s Valentine fun for everyone. Easter sees the museum’s Annual Boat Gathering, with many boats both traditional and modern visiting the museum over the Easter weekend and lots of special Easter activities.       A seventy acre country park with woodlands, reservoirs, ancient monuments and industrial history close to the market town of Holywell, North Wales.

      The Visitor Centre, which is also the entrance to the Museum and Farm, has information on woodland walks, educational activities, fishing and bird watching in the area. A free guide/brochure is available from the Visitor Centre which will reopen on Good Friday 21st March 2008 and be open every day until the end of October

      Three lakes on offer, two of which are over an acre in size and a third which is just over a quarter of an acre. All three lakes feature specially built pegs including disabled access

      The largest fish we will be introducing will be 12-16lb Carp, although all three lakes will feature a mixture of the following breeds -
      * Mirror Carp * Common Carp * Tench * Grass Carp* Crucian Carp* Chub* Rudd* Roach* Bream
      You will be able to buy bait and food onsite, as well as having toilet and telephone facilities available for your use. There is plentiful car parking space close to the lakes.

      A valid fishing license must be displayed when booking in.
      Fishing licenses are not sold onsite.

    • Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways Porthmadog & Caernarfon (North Wales)

      The Ffestiniog Railway is the oldest independent railway company in the world, established in 1832. Originally built to carry slate; today, the little steam trains carry passengers between the slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and the coastal port of Porthmadog through the beautiful scenery of the Vale of Ffestiniog.

      The Ffestiniog’s latest project is the Welsh Highland Railway (Caernarfon) which is Snowdonia’s newest narrow gauge railway. It runs through spectacular scenery from beside the famous castle in Caernarfon into the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. Currently running as far as Rhyd Ddu on the slopes of Snowdon, it is planned to extend the line in 2009 to connect with the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog.

      Most trains steam hauled and are both members of the famous ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’

    • Great Orme - Tramway, Llandudno

      The Great Orme Tramway has been delighting visitors since it opened on July 31st 1902. An engineering marvel of its age, it's still the only cable-hauled tramway still operating on British public roads.
      The view from the Great Orme's 679ft (207m) summit are breathtaking- from Snowdonia and Anglesey, all the way to to the Isle of Man, Blackpool and the Lake District.

      Trams run: Every 20 minutes, 7days a week, 10am to 6pm (closes 5pm March & Oct only).
