The Queen Hotel
Back

The Queen Hotel, located directly across from the main line Chester Railway Station, opened on the 21st April 1860, costing £29,000.00 "built in the Italian style upon a beautiful piece of ground with sumptuous furnishings, a beautiful garden and offering the quietest and most spacious first class Hotel in Chester (21st July, 1860)".

This prestigious hotel has had many celebrities and dignitaries through its doors including Charles Dickens, Lilly Langtry and Cecil Rhodes who it is thought made his plans for Rhodesia whilst taking his walks through the gardens!
The Feathers Group acquired the Queen Hotel in March 2003, and through a multi-million pound refurbishment have restored the hotel to its former glory.

Through the combination of modern first class services and wonderful newly created and enhanced facilities throughout we can guarantee from the moment you arrive, a quite wonderful experience in the true tradition of this grand marque hotel.
The Feathers Group have recently acquired Thistle House, a substantial 8 storey office block sited adjacent to the Queen Hotel.
Work started on 12th January 2008, to convert this property into a 87 bedroom extension of the Queen Hotel creating superb new “5 Star” converted bedrooms with every conceivable luxury. This will take around 6 months costing approximately 12 million pounds.

The building will enjoy a newly created link between it and the Queen Hotel, this link will also incorporate an extension to the existing Bacchus Restaurant to accommodate additional dining requirements coupled to a new drinks on arrival/J28 style lounge environment on the existing side elevation of the existing Colonnades Conference and Banqueting Suite.
