For a healthy, enjoyable way to try something different this New Year without breaking the bank, Chester music and dance venue D’ Meltin’ Pot on Watergate Row is running free beginners’ salsa taster sessions on both Sundays (7pm) and Tuesdays (8pm) throughout January. Said D’ Meltin’ Pot’s owner, Mike Mitchell: ““If you can’t face the thought of sweating away in the gym or jogging in the winter weather, dance is a pain-free option which is now widely promoted above more traditional fitness regimes. In fact, in some areas, The National Health Service even provides dance classes to help reduce obesity and improve well-being. It’s a proven way to build fitness and develop flexibility and balance. Like any form of exercise, it kickstarts your endorphins and, combined with the social aspect, it has a real ‘feel good’ factor for overall well-being and improved mental health. “This is just the time of year when people are thinking about trying something new to get in shape and branch out and either meet new people or enjoy a new activity with their partner or friends. We thought we’d make it even easier for everyone with our free salsa taster offer for January. Said D’ Meltin’ Pot’s owner, Mike Mitchell: ““If you can’t face the thought of sweating away in the gym or jogging in the winter weather, dance is a pain-free option which is now widely promoted above more traditional fitness regimes. In fact, in some areas, The National Health Service even provides dance classes to help reduce obesity and improve well-being. It’s a proven way to build fitness and develop flexibility and balance. One of the most popular bands of the past 25 years, Simply Red, has announced a series of dates in spectacular woodland locations next summer as part of Forestry Commission Live Music.

Fronted by the unmistakable Mick Hucknall, a catalogue of hit singles like ‘Holding Back The Years’, ‘Something Got Me Started’, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’, ‘For Your Babies’, ‘Fairground’, ‘Angel’, ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye’ established Simply Red’s superstar status across the globe. Said D’ Meltin’ Pot’s owner, Mike Mitchell: ““If you can’t face the thought of sweating away in the gym or jogging in the winter weather, dance is a pain-free option which is now widely promoted above more traditional fitness regimes. In fact, in some areas, The National Health Service even provides dance classes to help reduce obesity and improve well-being. It’s a proven way to build fitness and develop flexibility and balance. Like any form of exercise, it kickstarts your endorphins and, combined with the social aspect, it has a real ‘feel good’ factor for overall well-being and improved mental health. “This is just the time of year when people are thinking about trying something new to get in shape and branch out and either meet new people or enjoy a new activity with their partner or friends. For a healthy, enjoyable way to try something different this New Year without breaking the bank, Chester music and dance venue D’ Meltin’ Pot on Watergate Row is running free beginners’ salsa taster sessions on both Sundays (7pm) and Tuesdays (8pm) throughout January. Said D’ Meltin’ Pot’s owner, Mike Mitchell: ““If you can’t face the thought of sweating away in the gym or jogging in the winter weather, dance is a pain-free option which is now widely promoted above more traditional fitness regimes. In fact, in some areas, The National Health Service even provides dance classes to help reduce obesity and improve well-being. It’s a proven way to build fitness and develop flexibility and balance. Get Dancing and Beat the January Blues! For a healthy, enjoyable way to try something different this New Year without breaking the bank, Chester music and dance venue D’ Meltin’ Pot on Watergate Row is running free beginners’ salsa taster sessions on both Sundays (7pm) and Tuesdays (8pm) throughout January. Said D’ Meltin’ Pot’s owner, Mike Mitchell: ““If you can’t face the thought of sweating away in the gym or jogging in the winter weather, dance is a pain-free option which is now widely promoted above more traditional fitness regimes. In fact, in some areas, The National Health Service even provides dance classes to help reduce obesity and improve well-being. It’s a proven way to build fitness and develop flexibility and balance. Like any form of exercise, it kickstarts your endorphins and, combined with the social aspect, it has a real ‘feel good’ factor for overall well-being and improved mental health. “This is just the time of year when people are thinking about trying something new to get in shape and branch out and either meet new people or enjoy a new activity with their partner or friends. We thought we’d make it even easier for everyone with our free salsa taster offer for January. If you’ve fancied trying a class but have never got round to it, there is now officially no excuse!” Concluded Mike: “Salsa is a great way to get out, get fit and have fun. You don’t need to bring a partner, just come along ready to enjoy yourself! We get a whole range of people coming to our classes from all ages and backgrounds, right the way from students through to one couple in their 70s, so everyone is genuinely welcome.” Salsa classes at D’ Meltin’ Pot are taught by Mike, who originates from Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean, Banderas from Cuba, the home of salsa, and Chester’s own homegrown talent, Lee, the North West’s amateur bachata dance champion (Bachata is a partner dance style originating from the Dominican Republic, also taught at D’ Meltin’ Pot). As well as salsa and bachata classes and parties, D’ Meltin’ Pot runs affordable dance classes in other styles including street dance and even pole dancing, and has a busy weekly programme of music and dance events including live bands, top DJs and a regular Wednesday jam session for budding musicians. Chester Food and Drink Festival has received an exciting makeover and as of 2010, the festival will be called, Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival. The new festival still features all of the wonderful food and drink stalls but will now appeal to an even wider audience by introducing a lifestyle show and camper van event to its line up.

Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival includes three jam packed days of activities set within Chester Racecourse. Included in this year’s festival are the ever popular celebrity chef demonstrations. Chefs already confirmed for the festival are Simon Rimmer, Michael Caines, Andrew Nutter and Thomasina Miers.

This is already an outstanding line-up of World class TV chefs and shows the drawing power of Chester to attract such huge names to our event. More exciting names are to be confirmed in the coming months.

Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival will showcase over 120 food and drink stalls offering festival goers the chance to see, taste and buy the very best produce the region has to offer. From award winning sausages and delicious home grown vegetables to tasty food to taste and eat, as well as a champagne tent and a beer tasting marquee, making this the festival for the truly appreciative pallet.

New for 2010, Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival welcomes a Homes and Garden exhibition, which will make the festival the largest lifestyle event the county has ever seen. Over 50 stalls are expected to be at the exhibition including home interiors, art galleries and furniture stores.

Over 300 campervans are expected to join in the fun too, in what will be the only campervan get together in the UK during the spring. Campers can look forward to a beer festival, which will include music and a marquee of tasty local beer and ale.  Campervans are invited to park within the racecourse, surely making this the most exclusive campsite address in town.

And children need not feel left out, as there is a dedicated Children’s cookery marquee where children can get messy with food and learn through play. They can join in making pasta, cakes and bread all to take home for mum and dad, that’s if they haven’t eaten it already!
